THE CHALLENGE

The organisers of the event wanted a solution that will provide transparency into the sales of the vendors. They were to take 20% off the sales of the vendors at the event. To do this, they needed to know exactly what each vendor sold at the event.

They needed a solution that would power sales, transactions, and reports.

THE SOLUTION

To solve the challenge, we deployed Kwiksell to LFF. An enterprise account was created which allowed for the creation of multiple workspaces. Each of these workspaces served as a unique account for each vendor.

With this account, LFF was able to onboard all 32 vendors as a unique business, set up their inventories and track the sales made by all vendors.

In addition to this, the LFF team created an Eko currency; a pseudo currency whose value was equivalent to the Nigerian currency. To buy from the vendors, every attendee had to change their Naira to Eko currency using the Kwiksell POS terminals.

THE RESULT

With over 2000 unique transactions within three hours of the event, Kwiksell ensured the fun continued while money moved fast! Vendors and the event planners received immediate payments for transactions as opposed to waiting 24 hours with regular POS payments.

THE KOREDE SPAGHETTI STORY

Despite starting out with the intention of simply providing a spot in the University of Lagos where students can relax with finger foods and cocktails, Korede Spaghetti has grown to become a popular name in the food business in Lagos, Nigeria.  

Korede saw a problem - the need for people to satisfy their hunger and he decided to solve that problem by providing food for them at affordable prices. 

In 2017, Korede began selling spaghetti and that immediately earned his business the reference “Korede who sells spaghetti” which quickly became what it is known as today - Korede Spaghetti.  But as his business grew, so did the challenges.

It was a struggle collating order details, sales and business data and running his business seamlessly. In his words, he needed “something that can take payments (both card and cash), inventory and take the data of people that buy stuff” from him.

Previously, vendors have constantly reported having a torrid time selling to their customers - especially at fairs like this - because of the unpredictability of payment collection methods.

It’s risky to accept bank transfers as the payments may not reflect during the duration of the fair and most attendees hardly carry cash to these places. That means vendors are left with depending on card and cash payments.

But that is also at the mercy of network connections. Unreliable and inconsistent network connection like the one we witness in this part of the world means receiving payments via POS can be frustrating and disadvantageous at fairs.

THE KWIKSELL SOLUTION

The Kwiksell POS allows vendors to accept and confirm bank transfers without having to wait for bank alerts. On the POS, a pseudo bank account is created for every transaction. Immediately the payment is successfully made, it reflects on the POS.

Vendors at the Wodibenuah Fair were provided with the Kwiksell Delta POS to set up their inventory, accept payments, and track their sales.

All payments accepted at the event were received immediately into their bank accounts. Unlike other terminals, vendors had immediate access to their money.
